Who are Mini Sessions right for? Utah Family

August 24, 2022 by tayneemillerphotography@gmail.com Leave a Comment

utah mini session

Have you been wondering if a mini session is right for you??

The number one question I get asked as a family photographer in Utah  is do you offer Mini sessions. I have great news, I do offer them a few times a year, and you are in luck that I am now booking for Utah and California. On my last post I have written out what dates and where!

If you have little kids, want just a handful of images, then a mini session is for you. If you are hoping for a more elongated experience and candid adventure then I would recommend doing a full session.

Who is a mini session best for?

Now that I have moved to Utah and typically only do mini sessions in California, this outlines who this session would be best for:

  • Families with children who are older school aged and cooperative
  • Maternity session who is pregnant with their first child
  • Families who have no preference on a location
  • Any clients who have already shot with me and know my style
  • A small family with children who are not shy and will cooperate
  • Milestone photos

I hope to see you soon!

Derek & Jacqueline Maternity | Albion Basin

August 3, 2022 by tayneemillerphotography@gmail.com Leave a Comment

Every summer the mountains of Little Cottonwood Canyon Albion Basin bloom with stunning wildflowers. They are breathtaking and only last for a few short weeks. I was so excited when Jacqueline wanted to do her maternity session at this beautiful location.

Maternity sessions are one of my favorite type of sessions and something I highly recommend people do. This season of your life is one that will go by quickly and capturing this time in your life truly is something you will never regret.

Often times women can feel drastically one way or the other. Sometimes they can feel like they are huge and look so different and someone love the body shift and change that is happening. If you fall in the category of not loving your body, focus on the memory of what you are celebrating.

When deciding what to wear for your session think about the season, the location, and what the mood will be. For something soft and romantic think flowey and lightly colored. For a more upbeat look, think of some brighter jewel tones and a pop of color! Both are beautiful and it truly is just up to you!

Jamie + Ben | Utah Wedding Photographer

June 27, 2022 by tayneemillerphotography@gmail.com Leave a Comment

Weddings can be such an amazing adventure. Jamie and Ben’s wedding was truly magical. My favorite part about working with Jamie and Ben what is that they were unapologetically themselves and so unique the entire time we did photos. I felt like because they were so genuine we developed a good friendship and had some great times together through the laughter of engagements to the raw emotions of their wedding day.

I love how the wedding day wasn’t as traditional. During the ceremony they gave each of their children a token of their love and had it engraved for each child. It was beautiful to see these separate families come together and become one.

One of the most memorable moments of their wedding day for me was listening to their full wedding story. This was both Ben and Jamie’s Second marriage so they didn’t do all of the traditional Things on their wedding day. They had a beautiful ceremony followed by a receiving line and then instead of the reception they had an amazing dinner. At the dinner that night with their close family and friends they told the full Story of how they met. I had heard a portion of their store before but at this dinner I learned they had met in high school through Ben’s sister. They both had an eye for each other, but neither of them made a move. They reconnected years later multiple times and it was just never the right time for them to be together. But finally years later they made it back to each other and are happily married. Seeing how much they love each other I knew that their journey and everything they went to through together was what they needed to be ready for each other.

Red Butte Garden Engagement Session

April 1, 2022 by tayneemillerphotography@gmail.com Leave a Comment

One of the best parts about Utah is the location variety like Red Butte Garden (see more

here) You get so many different looks it’s perfect for families, engagements, bridals, really any session.

Working with Jamie and Ben was so fun. My favorite part was getting to know them as a couple. They are so cute together and so well matched. It was just fun to see them interacting with each other and making each other laugh and open up in front of me. It was a fun little peek into the relationship. I always admire seeing couples really embrace their relationship so that it can shine through on their photos.

I’ve talked a ton about how outfits can really make the biggest difference in your photo shoot (you can see my post here). Jamie did an amazing job at picking out her dress and doing her makeup and coordinating outfits. They both looked perfect together. I loved the soft tones with this time of year and how she really took into account the location they were shooting at while picking outfits.

When you book a session with me, one thing I go over is location. I often have my own spots and then other popular spots that I know will photograph well. Jamie and Ben took the time to ponder my list of suggestions for location. They also went out on their own to look at the locations to see if it was what they wanted. Jamie said when she went to Red Butte Garden that she just knew that she loved this place and she found a beautiful spot by the waterfall that she wanted captured. This makes it so easy for me to include a piece they love also in their sessions. Red Butte Garden has so many different locations to offer within their gardens. I would highly recommend checking it out prior to your shoot if you choose this location.

We had snow the week before their engagement session so we weren’t sure exactly how green it would be, but we were able to find lots of beautiful sceneries. I also spotted one little patch of blooming flowers and I knew we had to somehow capture it and get photos with the new blooms. I’m so happy that I could photograph them in this beautiful location. I hope they love these dreamy photos.

Christy Family | Spring Utah Session

March 24, 2022 by tayneemillerphotography@gmail.com Leave a Comment

Spring is almost here and I am so excited for warmer weather and beautiful flowers and greens in my images. Shooting a Spring Utah session is such a treat. It truly is so beautiful and full of so many diverse spots to shoot at.

This session is such a beautiful setting and gives just the right amount of added color. I loved how they used blues as their base colors for their outfits and then complemented those colors. With their outfits next to the flowers it was the absolute perfect mix. Earlier this year I created a post with some guidance on what to wear for a session and what type of looks you should be looking for. You can find that post here.

Seeing new parents with their kids is always such a treat. It’s a time where things are still fairly mellow and not overly chaotic, which allows the session to really be managed by myself to be sure we get great images. One of the main things I tell my parents before shoots is that it’s my responsibility to get the good images. I will do all that I know and can to make sure I keep everyone happy and capture your little babies.

The Christy family is such a beautiful family. When they showed up I knew they had such a beautiful spark and seeing how organic their connections were really made it so easy for me to photograph them. I loved how sweet mom and dad were with their sweet boy and how excited they were for their cake smash portion of the shoot.

The cake smash part was so fun to do. I always love this tradition and think it’s such a fun way for kids to celebrate turning one and for mom and dad to do something a little out of their box. You really only need a small 5 inch cake for this, so that it is only used by the one year old.

I hope this gives you some great ideas as we head into spring season here or inspires you to want a Utah Spring Session.
